Re: Blackberry FAQ
How do I reset my message counter to clear, or zero?
if you have an errant voicemail waiting icon on your homescreen:
* Call your voicemail and clear the message.
* Call your BB from another line and leave a message. From you BB, call your voicemail and clear and delete your messages.
* If the above fails, pull your battery to reset and reboot your BlackBerry.
If you have a rogue New Message icon on your
Homescreen, or a negative count (-1), any one of these solutions could
clear it, or reset it to zero:
Try these options:
* Hard Reset the BlackBerry by holding ALT, CAP (right Shift key), and DEL (or pulling out and reinserting the battery)
* View Messages > Saved Messages
* View Messages > View Folders, check each folder (missed
calls, SMS in and out boxes, MMS in and out boxes, Saved, browser,
phone logs etc)
* Scroll to top of message folder, over the date heading, click or press menu to MARK PRIOR OPEN
* Change your theme and see if it persists, and change back to your desired theme. (Options > Theme > select.)
* Wipe and reload your OS.

Re: Blackberry FAQ
My Caller ID name/number do not show when I get a call or SMS
There could be any one of three solutions...
1. Make sure you set your own country code at Phone Dialer Screen > Options > Smart dialing.
Set your country code in this format: "+xx" where xx = your country
code. Some countries have two or three digit Country Codes. Do not
place the '+' in your contact's entry.
* In the US, set this Country Code as "+1", and place your loca
area code in the proper box (this normally the default setting in a new
BB).
2. At the same location, change the National Number Length to the
number of digits for your country (since some countries will have less
than 10 as set as the default in the BB). Find out the total digits,
minus the country code. Do not place the '+' in your contact's entry.
* For example, some countries have a total number to 8 (plus 3 for country code). You would enter "8".
3. You may have "Content Protection" set on your Address Book.
Look at Options > Security > General Settings. Scroll down to Content Protection > Include Address Book = NO.

How to Clear/Delete all your Address/Calendar items at once
If you are having errors in your Calendar or Address Book on your
BlackBerry, and you wish to delete the entire Calendar (or Address
Book) database on your BlackBerry, follow the directions below. Make
certain you have a good copy of your Calendar or Contacts elsewhere, as
this procedure will complete delete ALL Calendar entries and/or Address
Book entries on your BlackBerry.
1. Open Desktop Manager on your PC.
2. Open up Backup/Restore > Advanced.
3. From Advanced you'll see a split pane screen. The left pain is what
is going to be backed up from your device and the right is a list of
the currently existing databases.
3. Highlight on the right side your Address Book database (or your
Calendar database) and click the arrow in the middle pointing to the
left. This will copy the information over and prepare it for back-up.
4. Once the back-up has completed, hit the Clear button at the bottom
to erase and clean out the entire address book database (or Calendar
database).
5. After it's finished, it will ask you if you want to save the back-up
you've created, say yes and check the device to make sure the address
book has properly cleared out. Now, resync the necessary contact
information and you should be set to go.
